Join The Texas Tribune on Wednesday Sept. 9 in Austin or online for a conversation that goes beyond the headlines to examine where Texans actually stand on the data center boom, how opinions are shifting and what it means for the elections ahead.
This event is the first in the Tribune's "Beyond the Headlines" series, featuring conversations that bring our reporting to life, go deeper on the issues and explore what's really at stake for Texas and its communities.

 Speakers include Paul Cobler, economy and industry reporter at the Texas Tribune, Taylor Goldenstein, enterprise and investigative reporter at the Tribune, and James Henson, director of the Texas Politics Project.
The conversation will be moderated by Rebekah Allen, managing editor of politics and enterprise at The Texas Tribune.Â

Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and the hourlong conversation will begin at 9 a.m.
Parking is not provided.Street and garage parking as well as ride-sharing are recommended.

Paul Cobler is the Tribune's economy and industry reporter, covering the socioeconomic and political forces that impact Texans’ pocketbooks and upward mobility. Before joining the Tribune, he was a politics reporter for the Houston Landing and covered Baton Rouge City Hall for The Advocate in Louisiana. Paul grew up in Victoria, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin.
Taylor Goldenstein is an enterprise and investigative reporter for The Texas Tribune. Taylor previously covered state politics for the Houston Chronicle and Hearst Newspapers from 2019 and 2026. She hails from the suburbs of Chicago but has been a Texan for nearly a decade, having first cut her teeth at the Austin American-Statesman in 2016 where she covered local politics. Taylor graduated with a journalism degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2014, she was selected to be a visiting fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard University. Taylor's grandparents immigrated to the U.S. from Latin America, providing a foundation in Spanish that she has strengthened through more than a decade of formal study and an undergraduate minor in the language. She is based in Austin.
Allen has worked at The Texas Tribune since 2019. Before then, she was a state government reporter for The Dallas Morning News. Previously, she was an investigative reporter and Capitol reporter for The Times Picayune/The Advocate in Louisiana and an education reporter at the Pensacola News Journal in Florida.
